Director Alberto Corredor expands his own award-winning 2017 short for this original British horror. In addition to delivering a steady flow of creepy chills, it also has significant franchise potential, and if that happens, sales of potato sacks are going to go through the roof come Halloween time.
Baghead is set in present-day Berlin, where cash-strapped 20-something Iris (The Witcher’s Freya Allan) inherits a large run-down pub, after the horrific death of her estranged father, Owen (Peter Mullan). The manager of her father’s estate is keen to offload the property, but Iris decides to stay, inviting her best friend Katie (Bridgerton’s Ruby Barker) to join her.

Now Shudder has announced that Baghead will be available to stream on their service (and on AMC+) as of Friday, April 5th. So if you’re a Shudder or AMC+ subscriber, you’ll have the chance to watch this movie in just a couple weeks. You can watch the trailer for Baghead, along with a clip from the film, at This Link.

Yesterday, we shared a new interview with director Renny Harlin that mostly focuses on his latest film, the action movie The Bricklayer, which was given a theatrical, On Demand, and Digital release earlier this month. But the interview also branches out with mentions of other Harlin projects, including the 1999 shark thriller Deep Blue Sea (watch it Here), which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. During his conversation with JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray, Harlin revealed that Samuel L. Jackson’s character – and therefore the famous scene involving that character – was added into the script at the last minute.
Harlin said, “The whole scene has its roots in the fact that I had done Long Kiss Goodnight with Sam, and we sort of made a pact that we would always work together as often as we can. So then Deep Blue Sea came up and Sam called me and he’s like,...

In the sixth-season episode of "Bones" called "The Finder," which aired in April of 2012, Brennan and Booth (Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz) travel to the Florida Everglades to investigate the death of a maritime museum worker whose remains in the woods lead to the discovery of a fragment of a 17th-century map. The map may lead to sunken treasure (!) and our heroes know that if they find the rest of the map, they'll likely uncover a murderer.
To help with their investigation, the two agents hire an eccentric local named Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), an old friend of Booth's. Walter is a kooky former soldier and head injury sufferer who possesses a bizarre, obsessive talent for locating lost objects. It's implied that Walter may even have semi-clairvoyant powers.

It’s the execution that matters in thrillers, and Dangerous Waters is one film that dwindles a lot in that department. Directed by John Barr, the film is one of the last performances by Ray Liotta, and this movie is dedicated to his memory. Besides that, the interesting part about this movie is that there is a lot of emphasis on grit and survival in the plot. The whole film screams of being a low-budget cult film, but there just isn’t that ‘x factor’ present to make it so. Odeya Rush, Eric Dane, and Saffron Burrows are good performers who understand the tone of the film, and they are cast quite brilliantly, but the structure and believability of the scenario of the film don’t do justice to the otherwise decent thriller.

"Talk to the dead. Pay the price." Leave the dead alone! Studiocanal has revealed the first official trailer for a creepy new supernatural horror film called Baghead, created by Spanish filmmaker Alberto Corredor. (Not to be confused with the Duplass Brothers' indie classic Baghead from 2008.) From the producer of It and Barbarian, meet Baghead in this new horror thriller. Following the death of her father, a young woman inherits a run-down pub & discovers a dark secret hidden down in its basement: Baghead – a shapeshifting creature that will let you speak to lost loved ones, but not without consequence. Danger! Yeah this sounds super frightening. Freya Allan stars as Iris, with a cast including Ruby Barker, Ned Dennehy, Peter Mullan, Jeremy Irvine, Saffron Burrows, and Svenja Jung. This looks like it gets crazy once they let this woman out of the basement, even though that's exactly what her dad told her not to do.

Something evil lurks in the basement in the first trailer for Alberto Corredor’s unsettling new horror film, Baghead.
We’ve had some stellar horror films in 2023, but it’s time to cast our eyes to the future. We’re already looking forward to Imaginary and Night Swim, but Alberto Corredor’s Baghead looks very intriguing indeed.
Take a look at the first Baghead trailer below.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“Following the death of her father, a young woman (Allen) inherits a run-down pub and discovers a dark secret within its basement – Baghead – a shapeshifting creature that will let you speak to lost loved ones, but not without consequence.”
Baghead comes from the producers of It and Barbarian and there is definitely a bit of Barbarian’s DNA present in the Baghead trailer. Something rather evil was lurking in the bowels of a house in Zach Cregger’s hit horror as well.

One of the things that most drew actress Odeya Rush to “Dangerous Waters” was how the story develops and ends. In the film, now available on demand, Rush — plays Rose alongside Eric Dane and the late Ray Liotta.
Rose’s mother Alma (Saffron Burrows) drags her daughter along on a sailing trip with Derek Stipes (Eric Dane), Alma’s new boyfriend. The plan is to chart a course to Bermuda, but things go wildly wrong along the way. Rose first grows suspicious of Derek because he has guns stowed on his boat. Unfortunately, some of his old colleagues, now seemingly enemies, raid Derek’s boat and shoot Rose’s mother.
“It was complicated because Rose has really good instincts and she’s seen her mom get hurt. She’s taking the parental role. Rose smells out Derek from the beginning and she still wants her mom to be happy,” Rush...

Dangerous Waters is a notable release for the fact that it’s Ray Liotta’s very final turn, though it should also be commended for an impressive leading performance too, from Israeli-American actress Odeya Rush. To mark the film’s release we had the pleasure in speaking to her via Zoom, as she talks about the challenges in shooting a film that requirs such physicality, and her own thoughts on the action genre.
She also talks about her experience working alongside the iconic Liotta, while she looks back on other noteworthy collaborations, such as Greta Gerwig in Ladybird, and Larry David in Curb, which we naturally are intrigued to discuss.
Watch the full interview with Odeya Rush here:
Synopsis
A sailing adventure to Bermuda spirals out of control when 19-year-old Rose discovers the hidden depths of her mother’s new boyfriend and his connection to a dark underworld led by The Captain.

Odeya Rush gets a decent showcase in John Barr’s undeniably entertaining family drama, unsubtle and faintly ludicrous
After a shaky start on land, this maritime thriller unexpectedly turns into a passable showcase for its young Israeli-American star Odeya Rush, who we see transform from sullen teenager to crack-shot commando in a little over 90 minutes. Claustrophobic family drama, survivalist ordeal and balls-to-the-wall action barnstormer – any one of these would have amply filled out a single film. But director John Barr chucks all three into an unsubtle and faintly ludicrous outing that at least is never boring.
Rose (Rush) gets an invite on board a Bermuda-bound yacht, via her mother Alma (Saffron Burrows) who is being romanced by private security consultant Derek (Eric Dane). Grossed out by their middle-aged canoodling, Rose is nevertheless chuffed for her mother, who has raised her solo. But she begins to have suspicions about Alma’s...

2024 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the Renny Harlin shark thriller Deep Blue Sea (watch it Here) – and some fans feel the best way for distributor Warner Bros. to celebrate would be to release the film’s original ending. There’s a petition to let Warner Bros. know there’s interest in this idea, and the campaign has not only earned a show of support from the film’s star Thomas Jane (who said it would be “kinda fun” to see if fans can get the studio’s attention), but even a financial contribution from Harlin, who felt his contribution might help with the legitimacy of this fan movement.
Directed by Harlin from a screenplay by Duncan Kennedy, Donna Powers, and Wayne Powers, Deep Blue Sea has the following synopsis: On an island research facility, Dr. Susan McAlester is harvesting the brain tissue of DNA-altered sharks as...

Liotta made his film debut in 1983’s The Lonely Lady. But it would only take a few years for the actor to start breaking into the mainstream. Following 1986’s Something Wild, the actor went on to appear in such hits as Field of Dreams, Goodfellas, Cop Land, and Hannibal over the next 15 years.

With the release of the new tongue-in-cheek animal attack schlock comedy, Cocaine Bear, it’s a great time to revisit one of the most beloved “so bad, it’s good” shark attack movies. The 1999 film Deep Blue Sea is coveted for many reasons. Not only does it feature a notorious scene with star Samuel L. Jackson getting suddenly getting killed off by a CGI shark amidst an inspirational speech, but it also spawned perhaps the best rap song about sharks ever made by rapper and star LL Cool J.
According to ScreenRant, Ladies Love Cool James recently appeared on the latest episode of Hot Ones, the popular talk show from First We Feast that features celebrity guests eating progressively hotter chicken wings as they get interviewed. During the program, as his tongue got destroyed by the sauces, LL recalled a moment filming the shark movie where he nearly drowned due to the mechanical shark.

After spending much of the pandemic holding virtual rallies urging political action on climate change, Jane Fonda plans to return to Washington D.C. on Friday for her first in-person climate change event in the nation’s capital since the pandemic began.
In fall 2019, Fonda began participating in weekly “Fire Drill Friday” protests in D.C., alongside other climate change activists and celebrity friends. The protests, as well as Fonda’s arrests, generated headlines, as the actress marched around the capital and outlined a number of priorities aimed at decreasing the United States’ reliance on fossil fuels. The in-person rallies were curtailed by the pandemic and Fonda took her activism online for the past several years.

“Goodfellas” star Ray Liotta has died at the age of 67.
A representative for Liotta confirms to IndieWire that the actor passed away in his sleep while filming “Dangerous Waters” in the Dominican Republic. Liotta is survived by his daughter Karsen Liotta. The star was engaged to be married to Jacy Nittolo.
Liotta was best known for portraying the rise and fall of mob man Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 classic, but also made a name for himself thanks to his charming and often menacing contributions to crime cinema beyond “Goodfellas.” He had starring roles in cult classic “Blow” and the “Silence of the Lambs” sequel “Hannibal,” as well as “Killing Them Softly” and “Identity,” always elevating a genre assignment to grittier and often profound places.

It is written, directed and produced by William Sarne (“Sean Garnier vs. the World”). Bob Clarke (“Boiling Point”), who raised finance via Samahoma Media Advisors from Insight Media Fund, also produces.
A broadcaster has not yet been lined up but season 1 will launch to the market this month.
Sarne was drawn to writing about the area because of its richly diverse community, both in terms of race, ethnicity, religion and socio-economic status given Kensal Town in north-west London is an area where supermodels and media moguls live side by side with gang members.
The series also stars Callum McGowan (“Jamestown”) as undercover policeman Euan and Emily Carey (“The Lost Girls”) as rich girl Juni,...

Joe and Love are in for another thrilling ride.
Netflix dropped the official trailer for You Season 3, and it looks like another twist-filled affair.
We get to see Joe telling his baby son that he's changed him, which can mean a lot of different things.
We also get to see Joe stalking another woman, which does not sit well with Love.
The pair bicker like it's going out of fashion before conceding that they should go to therapy.
Always a show to throw in some satire, the therapist tells the pair of them that they are not capable of murder.
Yeah, tell that to the bodies starting to pile up.
The trip to the suburbs was supposed to be a new start for this couple, but somewhere along the way, they've realized the relationship is no longer working.
Love confronts Joe about his lack of care for her, and well,...
