Ricardo Castro Velazquez has directed the new Mexican comedy music movie ‘The (Almost) Legends’. The plot is set in a colorful Mexican town and revolves around two half-brothers named Romeo and Preciado meeting to honor the memory of their dad in a car rally that is full of banda music and adrenaline. The movie was released on Netflix on July 19, 2023.

Speaking at the 5th Conecta Fiction, Ana Bond, Sony Pictures VP and executive director for Latin American and Hispanic markets confirmed that Sony’s Entertainment division had no plans to launch its own streamer.
During her online keynote on the first day of this year’s hybrid event, Bond added that the focus remained on partnerships and creating “the best possible content.”
“It was a strategic decision that the company made some years ago – Sony wanted to focus more on content and creators,” said Bond.
“It means you are free work with everyone in the market, which is what it means to be independent. We work in all markets with all existing platforms channels, Pay TV, streamers, Open TV – and we have no limitations except for the fact that we are looking for best possible content for the screen,” she added.

Mexican content producer Talipot Studio has signed with CAA.
Launched in 2018 and led by CEO Regina Solórzano, Talipot Studio is executive producing Lisandro Alonso’s Eureka, starring Viggo Mortensen. The indie studio is also an associate producer on Leos Carax’s Annette, starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard; Mia Hansen-Love’s Bergman Island, featuring Mia Wasikowska; and Abel Ferrara’s Siberia, which stars Willem Dafoe.
Talipot is also the Mexican co-producer on Laura Mora’s Los Reyes Del Mundo, and is in postproduction on Tu Eres Mi Problema, starring Bárbara Mori and written and directed by Álvaro Curiel.

Santiago De Compostela, Spain — Gael García Bernal’s political thriller “Aquí en la tierra” (“Here on Earth”), a searing indictment of Mexico’s ruling elite, has been re-upped for a second season by Fox Networks Group Latin America.
The announcement of the renewal comes as, at Spain’s Conecta Fiction, Fngla senior vice president Mariana Pérez unveiled a new thriller, “Buenas Intenciones,” whose development is set up at Fox Telecolombia, confirmed a third season of “Sitiados” (Besieged) and sneak peeked “The Host,” an innovative non-scripted format starring Adrián Suar, one of Fox’s first two non-scripted shows in Latin America.
