Dick Van Dyke made history at The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards for playing Mystery Man/Timothy Robicheaux on Days of our Lives.
At age 98, the win made Dick the oldest winner in Daytime Emmy history as well as earned him a standing ovation as he took the stage.
It was not a surprise at all when Dick’s name was called as the winner for his Guest Performance in a Drama Series.
Not only did he kill it working on Days alongside vets like Drake Hogestyn (John), Deidre Hall (Marlena), Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie), and the late Bill Hayes (Doug), but Dick’s just simply a legend who deserved the honor.
The crowd went wild when Dick’s name was called and during his speech.
Thanks to Stephen Nichols (Steve), Days of our Lives fans were given an up-close look at Dick’s reaction to it all.

Dick Van Dyke Won For Outstanding Guest Performance On ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers
The show started by awarding the Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama. Robert Gossard, who plays Marshall Ashford on General Hospital, won.
Gossard was genuine and humble, two things everyone wants to see in a winner. Next, Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra on The Young and the Restless, won.
Hope dedicated her Emmy to all the mothers who lost a child. Her big storyline this year was that her character had a devastating miscarriage. Her performance was heartbreaking.

The 51st Daytime Emmys brought fashion and wins to the stage.
CBS hosted the event, allowing it to be televised live for viewers to revel in what their favorite soap stars were wearing and what they were doing.
The nominations this year were all over the board, and while we had our predictions, we weren’t sure who would actually take home the coveted awards.
In a year affected by writers’ strikes, scribes wrote some of the material the actors worked with and did a good job making it their own.
While there are varying opinions about who won each category, only one can take home the statue.
Here’s which soaps won each category tailored to the genre.
Who won a Daytime Emmy?
Some categories didn’t offer an actor or actress for a particular soap. But without further do, here is a list of winners in the soap-centric categories.

“Y&r” will have to overcome “General Hospital,” which has been on a hot streak, winning for the last three years in a row. In total, “Gh” has won Best Drama Series 16 times, more than any other soap in history. “Y&r” is next in line with 11, including back-to-back wins in 2019 and 2020. No other daytime drama has achieved double-digit victories. In fact, none even come close. The next most awarded serials are the now-defunct “As the World Turns” and the still-running “Days of Our Lives” with four apiece.

In April, the Daytime Emmy nominations gave soap fans a lot to talk about, especially when it came to Dick Van Dyke’s historic nomination.
As the award ceremony draws near, we think it’s time to predict who will win in the soap categories.
To be honest, every single nominee deserves to be a winner, but only one will take home the statue on Friday night.
Here’s who we think will win the Daytime Emmy Awards.
Who will take home the acting awards at the Daytime Emmys?
Finola Hughes, as Anna Devane on General Hospital, is our pick for Lead Actress. General Hospital fans know Finola turned in killer performances when Anna shot Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez...

Who is the best male TV star of all time? Our photo gallery above takes on the tough task of ranking the 50 greatest actors and performers. Agree or disagree with our choices?
With over 70 years of television to consider, we had to provide ourselves with a few rules to help simplify things. One of those was that every man in our gallery must have been an ongoing leading star at some point, preferably more often than not. That’s why you will not see such classic supporting actors as Art Carney, Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Peter Dinklage and more. We also do not include any news/sports anchors or journalists such as Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Peter Jennings, Howard Cosell since they are not performers.
In order to place them in the rankings, we were looking at a combination of quality (top rated shows with the public or critics...

Maybe it’s the Florida heat, but this series about Miami cop-buddies named Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) just gets ever more delirious. What started out as a flashy-but-routine police thriller got a sequel in which they invaded Cuba (this was probably the most restrained part of the film) and another in which they went up against a witch (an actual witch). Now, coming quick off the staggering success of part three, we get Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, in which, early on, Marcus suffers a heart attack and experiences a lavish vision quest, complete with magical parrot and a Force Ghost-esque incarnation of Joey Pants. Yes, Joe Pantoliano’s Captain Howard, previously a nuclear-tempered ballbuster prone to spitting lines such as, “I’ve got so much brass up my ass that I can play ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’!”, in this movie is a serene presence, guiding our heroes from beyond the grave.

Legend. Icon. Hero. Dick Van Dyke is unsure how to feel about these terms. It’s a little hard for me to get my brain around that, he says, speaking over Zoom from his home in Malibu. I don’t see myself that way and I can’t comprehend myself as that. The 98-year-old has had some time to grapple with the idea. From The Dick Van Dyke Show to Mary Poppins to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to Diagnosis Murder, Van Dyke has been on screen for as long as almost everybody can remember. The biggest moments of his career were recently celebrated...

Legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke was as surprised as anybody when he arrived to record the CBS special “Dick Van Dyke: 98 Years of Magic.” For our recent webchat he reveals, “I hadn’t seen anything until I got there, and they had built the old living room from the show. Behind us was the set from “Chim Chim Cher-ee” from “Mary Poppins.”
CBS had assembled an all-star musical tribute for the Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner’s to celebrate his 98th birthday last December. Amateur sleuth shows used to be popular in the pre-csi era of television.
These series showcased detectives who were not police officers, were often quirky, and could best the cops at solving murders -- if they could get them to listen.
You're right if you think that sounds exactly like CBS' Elsbeth. Elsbeth has more in common with amateur sleuth series of the past than with the show it spun off from, The Good Wife.
Elsbeth is a modern take on classic shows like Columbo, Murder She Wrote, and Diagnosis Murder. Most shows it owes a debt to are no longer on television, but streaming services have given them new life.
Elsbeth Heralds the Return of Amateur Sleuth Shows
Amateur sleuth shows are part of the cozy mystery genre.
Nowadays, they've fallen out of favor -- these mysteries mostly air as movies on the Hallmark channel.

With Robert Downey Jr. finally winning an Oscar for Oppenheimer and co-starring in the acclaimed HBO miniseries The Sympathizer, Awfully Good Movies is looking back at Rdj’s first and failed attempt at a post-Marvel franchise in the failed family fantasy Dolittle!
Right after Tony Stark’s epic exit from the MCU, Downey hopped on to star in and co-produce alongside his wife Susan a new adaptation of Hugh Lofting’s children’s book series about the veterinarian who can talk all the languages of his animal patients, this time without any overlong musical numbers from Rex Harrison or silly mugging from Eddie Murphy. However, much like the 1998 version, Dolittle’s animals would be voiced by a huge array of talented actors, including Rdj’s former Avengers co-star Tom Holland and future Oppenheimer co-star Rami Malek, and the long-awaited teaming of Dame Emma Thompson and John Cena that we’ve...

The Daytime Emmy nominations were announced yesterday with quite a few surprises for Days of our Lives fans.
Overall the Peacock soap did pretty well with acting nominations for Wally Kurth (Justin), Tamara Braun (Ava), Eric Martsolf (Brady), Emily O’Brien (Gwen/Therea), Linsey Godfrey (Sarah), Dick Van Dyke (Timothy), and for Daytime Drama Series.
Dick’s nomination made history because, at age 98, he’s the oldest actor to earn a Daytime Emmy nomination.
However, not all Days fans were happy with the Daytime Emmy nominees.
Arianne Zucker (Nicole) was missing from the list, which was one hot topic.
Let’s take a look at what Days of our Lives fans are saying after The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations were announced.
Days of our Lives fans celebrate Dick Van Dyke historic Daytime Emmy nomination.
The hottest topic over on X (formerly Twitter) was Dick making history and adding to his already stellar career.

The tax man waits for no one — not you, not your neighbors, and not even some of your favorite TV characters. Now that the deadline to pay Uncle Sam is almost here, you can celebrate (or medicate?) by watching these familiar faces crunch the numbers. Here are some of the best Tax Day-themed TV episodes ever. The Dick Van Dyke Show: “Your Home Sweet Home Is My Home” It’s tax time for TV writer Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke), and his mystified accountant wants to know why he gives his buddy Jerry (Jerry Paris) a check for $37.50 every year. One of the most famous moments in TV history came on September 26, 1962 with the airing of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" episode "Never Name a Duck," the first episode of the second season. During the opening credits of the show, Rob Petrie (Van Dyke) entered through his front door while the upbeat theme music (composed by Earle Hagan) played on the soundtrack. The announcer shouted out the names of the stars: Dick Van Dyke, Rose Marie, Morey Amsterdam, Larry Matthews, and Mary Tyler Moore. Rob stepped out of a foyer and immediately tripped over a large ottoman in his way. Van Dyke, a brilliant physical comedian, tumbled all the way over, rolling over his shoulder and landing on his back. It remains, to this day, one of the most celebrated pratfalls in the history of the medium.

Ian Fleming is perhaps best known for being the creator of James Bond and the series of novels that center the character, but he's also the mind behind the 1964 children's novel "Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car," which was subsequently turned into the beloved, Academy Award-nominated fantasy movie musical and later, a stage musical. The story focuses on the Potts family, namely, siblings Jeremy and Jemima, who desperately try to set up their widowed inventor father Caractacus with a beautiful woman named Truly Scrumptious. And people had the audacity to make fun of the character names in "The Hunger Games" series? Tsk. Tsk. During a day at the beach, Caractacus tells the children a fantastical tale about the villainous Baron Bomburst, the tyrant ruler of the land of Vulgaria, and his attempts to steal their magical family car, the titular Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Manic, magic, madcap … Julie Andrews is superb in the role of the flying nanny, in a film filled with amazing songs
Brilliant, entrancing, exhausting, and with thermonuclear showtunes from Richard and Robert Sherman, Disney’s hybrid live-action/animation classic from 1964 is now rereleased on home entertainment platforms for its 60th anniversary. And it has a brand-new certificate from the BBFC: upgraded from a U to a PG on account of “discriminatory language” from the eccentric seadog character Admiral Boom, who fires a cannon from his roof shouting “Fight the Hottentots!” (an obsolete term for South Africa’s indigenous Khoekhoe people). However the BBFC is evidently not bothered by the foxhunting scene in which the fox has a cod Irish accent, nor by the cheerful suicide reference made by one of the servants: “Nice spot there by Southwark Bridge, very popular with jumpers!”

It’ll take more than a spoonful of sugar for the “discriminatory language” of 1964’s “Mary Poppins” to be overlooked by the UK’s movie-rating system.
The classic film, which stars Julie Andrews as the titular nanny, has officially been reclassified from a “U” (universal) rating to “PG” (parental guidance) by the British Board of Film Classification. BBC first reported the rating switch.
The reason for the stricter rating more than 50 years later? The Oscar-winning musical includes a “derogatory term originally used by white Europeans about nomadic peoples in southern Africa” in reference to “soot-faced chimney-sweeps,” per the BBC. The term, which historically referenced the the Khoikhoi and San people, is used twice by Admiral Boom (Reginald Owen). Usage of the word is considered offensive today.
Due to its inclusion, the BBFC noted the film “exceeds our guidelines” for a U rating.

The age rating for the 1964 “Mary Poppins” has been increased in the U.K. due to “discriminatory language.”
On Friday, the British Board of Film Classification upped the Disney movie’s cinema rating from U, meaning it contained “no material likely to offend or harm,” to PG for “discriminatory language.”
In a statement to Variety, a BBFC spokesperson said that the film “includes two uses of the discriminatory term ‘hottentots’. While ‘Mary Poppins’ has a historical context, the use of discriminatory language is not condemned, and ultimately exceeds our guidelines for acceptable language at U. We therefore classified the film PG for discriminatory language.”
The word is a racially insensitive term for the Khoekhoe, an indigenous group in South Africa. The BBFC further explained that the word is used in the film by Admiral Boom (Reginald Owen), including when referring to the chimney sweeps whose faces are covered in soot.

In 1965, Martin Scorsese was 22 and surrounded by legends when he won the Jesse L. Laskey Intercollegiate Award at the Milestone Awards dinner hosted by the then-called Screen Producers Guild on March 8, 1965. Now, almost 60 years later, the filmmaker received the David O. Guillermo del Toro introduced the Killers of the Flower Moon director and producer at Sunday’s award show, calling him an “indispensable titan.” When Scorsese, now 81, took the stage, he started to tell the story of the 1965 awards show and how he kissed German actress Elke Sommer on stage.

Martin Scorsese accepted the Producers Guild’s David O. Selznick Achievement Award at the PGA Awards tonight and took the Hollywood & Highland Ovation Ballroom down memory lane — to about 60 years ago, when he accepted a PGA nod for his student film, It’s Not Just You, Murray! at the ripe age of 22.

“At the very end of the dais was me,” Scorsese continued. “I was all the way on the end. I was receiving the Jesse L.

Emily Blunt has been nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Award at the upcoming 96th Academy Awards. She played Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Her co-stars, Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr., are also on the nominees list. Both Murphy and Downey Jr. have high words of praise for Blunt, but one particular praise from the Iron Man actor may have irked the British people.

While appreciating his co-star, Downey Jr. mentioned that Blunt didn’t have many British characteristics in her because she never talked smack about others. Apart from the actors, the Oppenheimer crew, including Christopher Nolan, are also set to grab many Oscars for the film.

Disney’s Mary Poppins is 60 years old in 2024 – and it’s returning to UK cinemas in March to mark the occasion.
The joyous Disney favourite Mary Poppins is approaching a special birthday this year, with the movie – as the headline to this very piece suggests – now 60 years old.
Directed by Robert Stevenson, penned by Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi – based on the work of P L Travers of course – the movie is best known for the mighty Julie Andrews in the lead role. That and, of course, Dick Van Dyke’s entirely convincing Londoner.
It’s a much-loved movie that technically hits 60 this August. However, no problem with getting the party started early: we now learn that the film is returning to over 100 UK cinemas on March 29th 2024.
The re-release isn’t coming direct from Disney, rather through Park Circus. We don’t have the exact cinema count, but over...

The only way to topple Clyde Weston is to kill him.
He's ordering hits and blackmailing people into drug deals from prison. No one's trying too hard to stop him, but there are plenty of people with a grudge who want him dead.
On Days of Our Lives during the week of 2-05-24, one of his worst enemies confronts him in prison... and Ava meets secretly with Harris! Could this be the beginning of the end for Clyde?
Plenty of fans would cheer if that's the case. This drug kingpin story is not popular, especially because there's no reason for Ava Vitali to tolerate Clyde's threats for half a second.
She's a former Mafia Princess who walked away without a scratch after driving a car off a cliff to evade Ej. There's no way the likes of Clyde can so easily overpower her with a threat or two.
But...
