Perception is everything. Filmmakers often toy with reality by unscrewing the story from the unreliable narrator’s vantage point. In filtering events through a distorted lens, incrementally unraveling the truth, writers and directors keep the viewer tip-toeing through a battlefield littered with dynamite. Darren Aronofsky’s mother! and Mitzi Peirone’s Braid shift reality like tectonic plates. Both are illusory, fever dreams that don’t even seem real. The filmmakers test our mental capacity and push our patience for such absurdism to the absolute limits.

Music is one of the main keys to the success of a movie, as it helps to set the tone and enhances the viewers’ experience. It can even happen that films become overshadowed by the songs written and recorded specifically for them, and people tend to forget that they were originally soundtracks that lost any association with their origins.
Here are 5 dramas surpassed in popularity by their music themes, according to Reddit.
Dangerous Minds (1995)
Michelle Pfeiffer’s underrated gem presumably comes first in this respect, as everybody knows Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio, while the movie is unfairly forgotten. In fact, the story of a teacher taking up a job in East Palo Alto, a racially segregated and economically deprived city, is worth a try, apart from its cultish main song.
Chariots of Fire (1981)
“More people know the chariots of fire song than have actually seen the movie,” fairly admits @goldbloodedinthe404.

Like many children of the 80s, I have a soft spot for the 1985 adventure epic Ladyhawke. It’s directed by the great Richard Donner, with it coming just before The Goonies and Lethal Weapon, but after his time with the Superman franchise. Lavishly produced, it wasn’t a hit in 1985 despite having a top-notch cast that included the late Rutger Hauer (in a rare heroic role), Michelle Pfeiffer, and Matthew Broderick. While some might say the latter was rather improbably cast as an Italian thief in the Middle Ages, that’s not actually the weirdest thing about the movie.
Donner has a reputation for always choosing superb composers for his films. Just think about how iconic Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton’s work is for Lethal Weapon, John Williams’s Superman theme, Jerry Goldsmith’s work on The Omen, and Dave Grusin’s score for The Goonies. Yet, one score...

Taylor Sheridan’s one Yellowstone spinoff is yet to start production after being greenlit in 2021. The series titled 6666 was set up in one of the episodes of Season 4 of Yellowstone when Jimmy Hurdstrom, played by Jefferson White, left the Montana ranch to work in the 6666 ranch in Texas.
Sheridan himself revealed the reason why 6666 is taking time to reach the small screen, and the reason suggests that the series may take even more time to get made.

Anne Hathaway stars as Solène, who meets cute with Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of internationally famous boy band August Moon, while at Coachella with her daughter. Michelle Pfeiffer is a three-time Oscar nominee who has starred in a variety of classics in her long career, excelling at everything from comedy to drama, romance and action. Take a look back at 15 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Pfeiffer has had a 40+-year career on screen and has managed to overcome being known at first just for her looks. While her beauty was prominently on display in many of her first roles she quickly became more than just a pretty face and plunged herself into deeper and more complex roles. Pfeiffer’s first professional acting job was on a TV series version of the film “Animal House” called “Delta House.” Her character on the TV show was referred to simply as “The Bombshell.” This debut hardly signaled the arrival of an actress good enough to someday earn three Oscar nominations and seven Golden Globe nominations along with one win.

Only one episode remains in Season 3 of “Chucky,” and what a bloody road it’s been so far, especially for actor Devon Sawa. The actor has now officially died twice on screen this season, pulling double duty as President James Collins and body double Randall Jenkins.

Taylor Sheridan has made a massive name in television after making Yellowstone for Paramount Network. The neo-Western series starring Kevin Costner has been running for five seasons with numerous spin-offs attached to it. It is commendable that most of the Yellowstone content is written by Sheridan himself. However, his approach was a bit different initially.
Kevin Costner in Yellowstone
Taylor Sheridan did not think about writing most of the series himself from the start. Initially, he wanted to borrow the style of the Arrowverse co-creator Greg Berlanti. Unfortunately, the concept of a writer’s room did not work for Sheridan and he took on the task of telling the tales to the audience the way he wanted.
Why did Taylor Sheridan’s plan for a writer’s room for Yellowstone fail?
Taylor Sheridan created and acted in Yellowstone
The presently defunct- Arrowverse was one of the biggest things in television.

A number of major media franchises suffered immensely in their filming and production schedules due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes that took place last year. Yellowstone features Kevin Costner as the leader of the Dutton family, as the final season of the show is delayed as well. However, the strikes were not the only reason that caused the delay to the Western drama series, as Matthew McConaughey is stalling the deal for the lead role in a spin-off series.

The actor delaying the deal has put the show’s schedule behind, causing trouble for both the cast and crew of the drama series. However, this delay would cost him immensely as Michelle Pfeiffer is all set to take over the lead role in a new not-yet-titled spin-off show based on the original show.

2023 may yet be remembered as the year the superhero movie died. Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" was released in February 2023 and was the first notable comic book-based bomb of the year. The film was notoriously re-jiggered throughout its production, with massive and expensive SFX being finalized up to the last minute. The official budget ballooned to $200 million, although separate reports have pegged the price tag as being closer to that of Disney's notorious box office misfire "John Carter" (which cost $263 million to make). "Quantumania" still grossed $464 million, but that's considered low for a Marvel movie.
Throughout 2023, more bombs dropped as superhero movies either lost money or were considered disappointments. "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," "The Flash," "Blue Beetle," "The Marvels," and "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" all tanked, and while many went to see "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3," it felt like the last kick in a closing series.

Michael Douglas wanted to have a “serious” death scene in 2023’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and requested his character be killed off.
As the actor promoted his Apple TV+ series Franklin, Douglas opened up about the Marvel film in which he played Dr. Hank Pym. Ahead of the third film in the Ant-Man saga, the actor said he asked for his character to die.
“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas said on The View. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects.”
He continued, “But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”

Kevin Costner has been at an impasse with the producers of “Yellowstone” for over a year about whether or not he’ll return for the hit Paramount Network drama’s final season. In a nutshell, Costner wanted his shooting schedule and his character John Dutton’s exit to be on his own terms, and showrunner Taylor Sheridan does not agree. As of now, “Yellowstone” Season 5 is slated to shoot this spring and summer, without Costner.
But Costner says he’s still open to returning to wrap up Dutton’s storyline – with conditions.
On Tuesday, Costner was at CinemaCon in Las Vegas promoting his upcoming Western epic “Horizon,” the film for which he wanted to cut short his time on “Yellowstone” to direct. Entertainment Tonight asked him whether he’ll return to “Yellowstone,” and, well, it doesn’t sound like it’s going to happen.

Jennifer Lawrence has had a prolific career over the years and has shown her versatility as an actress starting from her first few projects. She made her breakthrough role playing Ree in Winter’s Bone. Lawrence went on to star in various acclaimed projects including American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook, The Hunger Games and the X-Men franchise, and Joy.
Jennifer Lawrence became the 2nd youngest Best Actress Oscar nominee for her role in Winter’s Bone
Her most divisive and controversial film was her 2017 film Mother!, directed by Darren Aronofsky. The film was inspired by the Bible and had the actors playing various characters and elements mentioned in it, and Lawrence was the one who had to do most of the heavy lifting. One scene proved to be too much for the actress, and she decided that she would never return to that character ever again.

Paramount Pictures had good reason to believe Adrian Lyne's "Fatal Attraction" would be another box office smash for the hit-making studio (which had just dominated 1986 with five of the ten highest-grossing movies of that year — including the top two in "Top Gun" and "Crocodile Dundee"), but they couldn't have anticipated the film becoming a full-blown, adult-skewing blockbuster. Nevertheless, the erotic thriller about an extramarital fling that turns into a waking nightmare for the happily married Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas) outperformed such heavy hitters as "Beverly Hills Cop II," "The Untouchables," and "Lethal Weapon" to become the second highest-grossing film of 1987 (behind the four-quadrant behemoth "Three Men and a Baby").
Why was the film such a pop cultural sensation? Every single element clicked perfectly into place. Lyne brought the sensual heat, James Dearden's screenplay tightened the screws with nerve-jangling precision, and the stars absolutely smoldered. Douglas and Glenn Close...

After the Kevin Costner exit drama in Yellowstone, Matthew McConaughey is no closer to signing the deal for a new spin-off series. While the actor’s involvement was reported a few months back, one issue stopped him from closing the deal. McConaughey will only agree to the series if he sees a script for the same from Taylor Sheridan. The same script issue was one of the reasons that drove Costner away from Yellowstone.

Interestingly, Paramount+ has roped in another star to helm a spinoff series from the Western drama. Michelle Pfeiffer of Ant-Man fame is reportedly close to striking a deal with the studio and Sheridan may shift his focus to this female-led series.

The first Avengers film was inarguably a true masterpiece. With its star-studded cast and even more brilliant storyline, casting, and actors’ performances, the Joss Whedon-helmed film was perfection at its peak. But before it was finalized to hold all the elements that it did, the film almost took a different turn; one that could have brought about Zooey Deschanel’s Marvel debut.
2012’s The Avengers.
As surprising as it may seem, filmmaker Whedon almost had Deschanel debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the same role that later went on to Michelle Pfeiffer. And had Scarlett Johansson’s scheduling conflicts for the same persisted, fans just might have seen a different plot in the saga — one that included Deschanel as a young Janet Van Dyne!

Michael Keaton recalls the initial reaction that comic book fans had when he was chosen to portray Batman in the 1989 Tim Burton-directed film.
Until then, Batman had been a character on a campy television series. However, Batman would mark a before and after for the superhero movie genre.
“When they said ‘We’re thinking of doing Batman,’ I said, ‘Wait, you’re thinking of making a movie about Batman?’,” Keaton said in an interview with GQ.
He continued, “The fact that Tim said ‘That guy, I want that guy’… the fact that people cared one way or another so much is still baffling. But that was a ballsy move on his part. We also had a nice working relationship from Beetlejuice, so he felt that he and I could get along and would work well together.”

Turning down a job can sometimes come back to haunt you, especially if you're an actor who passed up a role in an acclaimed horror movie and later regretted the decision. This scenario may be difficult to imagine. After all, who would pass up the chance to be in a movie or TV show, right? As fans, though, it can be easy to forget that the movie business -- for all its glory, fanfare, legacy, and importance -- is, at the end of the day, just that: a business. A person in any industry may decline a job that doesn't feel like good fit, doesn't align with their schedule, or maybe would have them working with a filmmaker or co-star they unsure of for one reason or another.

Actor Michael Keaton’s collaboration with director Tim Burton resulted in two live-action Batman movies that are loved and appreciated even today. As a result, it might surprise some fans that the duo butted heads over one casting decision during the production of Batman, which introduced several popular comic book characters.

In a 1996 episode of "This American Life," host Ira Glass was introduced to the vast, near-incomprehensible world of "Dark Shadows" for the first time. "Dark Shadows," for those who don't know, is a Gothic, vampire-forward soap opera that ran on ABC from 1966 to 1971, lasting six seasons and, no lie, 1,225 episodes. Because it was a daily program, the showrunners had to work at a breakneck pace, often committing grievous technical errors along the way. Those errors, however, were the central appeal for the world's many "Dark Shadows" fans. Glass likened it to tuning into car races just to see crashes. There is verisimilitude to such a concentration of human error.
Then, Glass is told by a "Dark Shadows" fan, that words like "groovy" began working their way into the show's dialogue sometime in the 1969 season. "Dark Shadows" is deeply beloved, partly for its complex, vampiric storylines, but just as much for its cheap camp.

Before Robert Pattinson’s The Batman introduced Colin Farrell as the Penguin, DC fans got a much more terrifying take on the character by Danny DeVito. He is the exact reason why Pattinson finds Tim Burton’s 1992 film, Batman Returns, as one of the most disturbing things even now. Michael Keaton’s second Batman film was also one to take a dark turn as a DC superhero movie.

Sometimes, when actors find themselves the focus of a particularly passionate fandom, they reject it. Look at Harrison Ford constantly playing down the importance of "Star Wars" or Robert Pattinson and his open disdain for the "Twilight" series. Which is why it's nice when an actor shares in fans' joy for a particularly beloved performance. Case in point: Danny DeVito and his role as Penguin in "Batman Returns."
Tim Burton's 1992 expressionist masterpiece remains the best Batman movie ever made, and DeVito is a big part of that legacy. The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star delivered a stunningly committed performance as Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin, managing to make the deformed "penguin man of the sewers" so wretchedly evil and yet, at times, sympathetic. The abandoned son of a well-to-do couple commits some truly heinous acts throughout "Returns" and yet you still feel a pang of sadness for the old boy.

Michelle Pfeiffer predicted stardom for a young, unknown Keanu Reeves.
That revelation comes as director Stephen Frears joins The Hollywood Reporter‘s It Happened in Hollywood podcast to discuss the making of his 1988 hit, Dangerous Liaisons.
The film starred Glenn Close and John Malkovich, playing conniving aristocrats in pre-French Revolution Paris who manipulate the people around them through sex and deception. Among their victims are characters played by Pfeiffer and Uma Thurman.
Reeves, then 23, was cast as Le Chevalier Danceny, a handsome musician who draws the attention of Close’s Marquise de Merteuil and falls in love with Thurman’s naive ingénue — then duels Malkovich’s Valmont for her honor.
Speaking on the podcast, Frears recalled that Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure was released just months after Dangerous Liaisons, turning Reeves overnight into a major movie star.
“But when he shot, he hadn’t [yet broken out,]” Frears said. “I saw a lot of young actors [for the role] and said,...

Al Pacino’s unconventional delivery of the 2024 Oscars’ best picture winner Sunday night had some people in the audience wondering if the Godfather star was winging it with Oscar tradition, but Pacino says he was largely following the Academy’s own script.
“There seems to be some controversy about my not mentioning every film by name last night before announcing the best picture award,” Pacino said in a statement issued Monday. “I just want to be clear it was not my intention to omit them, rather a choice by the producers not to have them said again since they were highlighted individually throughout the ceremony. I was honored to be a part of the evening and chose to follow the way they wished for this award to be presented.
“I realize being nominated is a huge milestone in one’s life and to not be fully recognized is offensive and hurtful,...
