1930's & Silent Era Favorite Movies
The Birth of a Nation is a disturbing film but historically significant as far as the evolution of storytelling techniques in the early days of cinema. I watched this film because it was on the AFI top 100 list. The portrayal of the Klan in a heroic role is reprehensible. The film itself cannot be dismissed though since it innovated a lot storytelling techniques used by future filmmakers.
