The Movies of 2017 that I anticipate the most-ish...some of these might suck but they're very big movies none the less.
So many movies coming out this year. I feel like I'm going mad, so mad that I'd probably start mixing words up.

- DirectorWoody AllenStarsJustin TimberlakeJuno TempleRobert C. KirkOn Coney Island in the 1950s, a lifeguard tells the story of a middle-aged carousel operator, his beleaguered wife and the visitor who turns their lives upside-down.I guess I'm lucky that my favourite director has made a movie every single year since the early 80s. This is a drama Woody Allen doesn't normally do drama but when he does it's great Blue Jasmine, Match Point and Vicky Cristina Barcelona and also Interiors. It's a great show of versatility he's normally made lighthearted movies. I've liked or loved every movie he has done (Well Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex, But Were Afraid to Ask is like, not very good. I mean it has its moments like Gene Wilder falling in love with a sheep is truly one of the most outrageous concepts and most hilarious things I have ever seen on film) so any chance of me disliking this film is very, very, very, very, very, very, slightly, kind of, pretty, darn, extremely low.
- DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaMark HamillRey develops her abilities with the help of Luke Skywalker, as the Resistance prepares for battle against the First Order.Force Awakens was great sure it's a carbon copy of A New Hope and Rey is a Mary Sue but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives with that film. From what we've heard about this film it's going to be more character driven, more darker and not include as much action as previous movies (heck it might even be a rather cerebral movie) . I imagine we'll start with Luke and Rey training, then some more resistance stuff (rumours of some tension building between the generals with their conflicting strategies) and Kylo and Snoke with some more inevitable tension between Kylo and Hux. I can't imagine this will be very eventful but the characters are all great and getting to know them more will be great to see.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsHarrison FordRyan GoslingAna de ArmasYoung Blade Runner K's discovery of a long-buried secret leads him to track down former Blade Runner Rick Deckard, who's been missing for thirty years. That one long take establishing shot of the alien ship and the foggy cliffs/mountains in Arrival cemented Denis Villenuve as the top director to look out for. I mean I can't express how much I've wanted to see a shot like that in a film
- DirectorMichael HanekeStarsIsabelle HuppertJean-Louis TrintignantMathieu KassovitzA well-to-do French family deals with a series of setbacks and crises.I never thought I'd see the words Happy and Michael Haneke in the same sentence but well now this movie exists (and I'm pretty happy that it does)
- DirectorKenneth BranaghStarsKenneth BranaghPenélope CruzWillem DafoeWhen a murder occurs on the train on which he's travelling, celebrated detective Hercule Poirot is recruited to solve the case.
- DirectorTaika WaititiStarsChris HemsworthTom HiddlestonCate BlanchettImprisoned on the planet Sakaar, Thor must race against time to return to Asgard and stop Ragnarök, the destruction of his world, at the hands of the powerful and ruthless villain Hela. What We Do in the Shadows is a 10/10 for me and Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a truly brilliant film. So I'll watch anything from the NZ comedy team of Jemaine Clement, Rhys Darby, Taika Waititi and Bret McKenzie (even though only one is working on this movie and that Thor is a pretty boring character......and that I hated the last Thor movie)
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsBen AffleckGal GadotJason MomoaFueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his new-found ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.Just please movie don't be overstuffed, badly edited and don't try too hard to be epic, smart and edgy just be a well made action movie and take notes from Days of Future Past, Fury Road and Edge of Tomorrow those are IMO the prime example of an action movie nowadays. A great balance of character, action, intelligence with brilliant editing, writing and overall film making. With Edge of Tomorrows montage of Cage dying over and over again you've got comedy, great editing and it's an example of good writing because not only does it have the comedy and editing but it also progresses the story. With Fury Road you've got the canyon chase scene with great music, prefect editing and it's example of film making would be it's brilliant mix of SFX and practical effects and it's not too over stuffed like BvS Doomsday fight. Days of Future Pasts final act has great action, even better character development and the editing between the past and future is sublime (almost as brilliant as Jedis editing between Palpatines spire, Endor battle and the Death Star space battle)
- DirectorRachel TalalayStarsPeter CapaldiDavid BradleyPearl MackieThe Twelfth Doctor, still refusing to change, goes on a last adventure with the First Doctor. It's essentially a TV Movie.
- DirectorDavid AyerStarsWill SmithJoel EdgertonNoomi RapaceA detective must work with an Orc to find a powerful wand before evil creatures do.Loved every minute of Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency, don't care that David Ayer is directing Max Landis' writing always out shines the skill of the director. Now after hearing that the script has been drastically changed and that it's been essentially disowned by Landis I'll skip this.
