- DirectorSujoy GhoshStarsVidya BalanParambrata ChattopadhyayIndraneil SenguptaA pregnant woman's search for her missing husband takes her from London to Kolkata, but everyone she questions denies having ever met him.Its like touring the city of joy i.e Kolkatta through the eyes of Director....
As director pays a "fond yet understated tribute" to the city by incorporating imagery such as "yellow taxis, leisurely trams, congested traffic, claustrophobic metros, dilapidated brick houses, tapering alleys, rajnigandhas,[c] lal paad saris,[d] piping hot luchis....And literally no film has worked soo hard to show the assence of the city like kahaani did....the direction and cinematography is really Eye-catching ..its certainly like visual candy...! And the lighting of the film is pitch-perfect ! even the direction is sharp! Special thanks to DOP of this film to showcase Kolkatta AS a main and central character of this whole movie through his shots of locales and many other things

THIS MOVIE DESERVES SPECIAL MENTION FOR ITS OUTSTANDING DIRECTION AND CINEMATOGRAPHY - DirectorAnurag KashyapStarsManoj BajpayeeNawazuddin SiddiquiTigmanshu DhuliaA clash between Sultan and Shahid Khan leads to the expulsion of Khan from Wasseypur, and ignites a deadly blood feud spanning three generations. The filming style adopted by Anurag Kashyap in Gangs of Wasseypur bears a striking similarity to the styles of Sergio Leone and Sam Peckinpah. The scenes are short in length, several in number and often a series of montages take the story forward. Anurag Kashyap never has to resort to extraneous elements like stylised entries, editing patterns or camera motions to add to the effect because the story has an intrinsic impact of its own..And this film also one of its kind for not using Crane or dolly to take shots!! Which makes this movie more raw and authenthic !!! Every shot has been executed so well...that you will just marvel it!!while seeing it! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ITs SHEER BRILLIANCE IN DIRECTION & CINEMATOGRAPHY...!!
Kashyap's use of dark humour to judiciously propagate violence bears an uncanny similarity to Quentin Tarantino’s style of movie-making. Absorbing styles as diverse as those of old-school Italo-American mafia classics a la Coppola, Scorsese and Leone, as well as David Michod's taut crime thriller "Animal Kingdom," Kashyap never lets his influences override the distinct Indian color.
Special mention goes to all the song sequence of this film......they are worth watching for their FOR NOT BEING SO TYPICAL BOLLYWOOD type !! - DirectorRam Gopal VarmaStarsJ.D. ChakravarthiManoj BajpayeeUrmila MatondkarAn innocent man is embroiled in underworld after being falsely charged and sets out to punish the perpetrators who subjected his life to misery. This gangster drama is arguably the gritty Indian version of 'The Godfather'....Gerard Hooper, who teaches cinematography at Drexel University, Philadelphia was the man behind the camera. The film's cinematography and use of locations played a major role in its success. Unlike most Hindi films, much of Satya was shot outdoors. Hooper would roam around Mumbai filming the city even when no shoot was scheduled. "The rawness of Satya’s locales were stunning. Just see the difference an outsider gave to the film, as opposed to an Indian who takes Mumbai for granted and prefers to shoot on some set in Film City," Kashyap has noted. Varma gave a free hand to his cinematographers, according to Kamran, who could therefore allow the camera to move freely rather than shooting from fixed angles. This added a touch of realism to the film. "The harsh, rough and true-to-life quality of the cinematography contributed immensely to the credibility in the film’s story and played a crucial role in its commercial and critical success," FOREVER A CULT CLASSIC.....! Thanks to its gritty direction.
The film even marked the introduction of a new genre of film making, a variation of film noir, that has been called Mumbai noir! - DirectorAnurag BasuStarsRanbir KapoorPriyanka Chopra JonasIleana D'CruzThree young people learn that love can neither be defined nor contained by society's definition of normal and abnormal. This movie is literally a VISUAL POETRY..! Cinematographer Ravi varman deserves a special mention for his realistic picturization and poetic framing sense throughout the whole movie..!! Every scene gives the feeling of "BREATH OF FRESH AIR"....every scene glows...and this is one type of rare movies....Which wont stress you in your eyes ..bcoz the color of the film is unique ...Every scene is vivid and bright but still it looks EXCELLENT!!KUDO to DOP of this film to make every scene of this film look more interesting till the end..! the direction is powerful !
Even The scenery of Darjeeling is well picturised as the story unfolds in convoluted flashbacks..Anurag Basu has to be mentioned specifically. It is rarely seen in Bollywood that a film is made with such care and passion. It was as if he thought out each and every shot before filming it and the execution was top notch, resulting in a magnificently polished film.!!!!!! THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS MOVIE :- Its great use of colors in very scene....it never looks dull....mostly the POV direction of some characters makes it more good...the glowing effect in some scenes is greatly used..believe me...the direction and cinemtography of this film is damn creative..its like they put a lot of effort in each and every scene...which can be seen !!
this is the movie to be watch for its great use of light, especially scenery ....color, and SHARP direction.!! the direction and cinematography of this film is as lively as it can be...even if u dont connect with the story..watch it for its ULTIMATE DIRECTION and again saying great lighting !! every scene shines! - DirectorSanjay Leela BhansaliStarsRanveer SinghDeepika PadukoneSupriya PathakModern adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' with an Indian twist, the film focuses on the story of Ram and Leela, their love, lust and the drama afterwards. The visuals, nobody questions, is by far Bhansali's best. Utterly flawless. You might want to compare the flawed VFX effects of movies like Krrish 3 and Ra. One and find Ram-Leela's visuals standing far ahead of them. The symmetry he puts in, the pattern he develops in every visual is like the best artist would......THIS FILM IS AN EXACT DEFINITION OF CULTURAL EXPLOSION!!Director has given his 200% to conceiving the visuals!! And again a big shoutout to DOP Ravi Varman for again giving a stellar cinematography & breath taking visuals after Barfi!! WATCH THIS MOVIE FOR ITS FOR CINEMATIC DELIGHT THAT IT SHOWCASE and GRANDEUR!!
- DirectorSriram RaghavanStarsDharmendraRimi SenAshwini KalsekarPolice officers recount a tale of missing money which results in lies, deceit, betrayal and death. Its an unusual choice, but if u watch the film closely, u'll see that every scene has something "red" in it...someones wearing red, or the background is red, or there is red in the burger... that the characters are eating...and the colour is specifically highlighted to give it a SIN CITY like feel...i thought tht was pure genius in terms of visual presentation...especially for a caper thriller...and there also the sense of noir in its visuality as it can be also said as MUMBAI NOIR !!
the director has tried to achieve BOLDNESS for sure..... through his noir crime thriller !! - DirectorSanjay Leela BhansaliStarsHrithik RoshanAishwarya Rai BachchanShernaz PatelEthan, a magician rendered paralyzed in an accident, sets off a furor when he makes a petition to the court to end his own life. This time....Director Sanjay Lella Bhansali chose to make his film more blackish and blueish in tone and the result is this OUSTANDING LOOKING FILM made by Director SLB!! Full credit goes to DOP and his techincal team to make this as visually stunning it can be !Even the last scene is reminiscent of another Hrishikesh Mukerjee film. The direction and picturization of every scene is par with Hollywood !Every frame is beautifully presented and it works like a visual treat to the audience.
- DirectorHomi AdajaniaStarsDeepika PadukoneArjun KapoorNaseeruddin ShahA man embarks on a road trip to find his lost love.Director Homi Adjania is again with his wierd and quirky movie after BEING CYRUS & COCKTAIL !! Each is filmed in muted hues by cinematographer Mahendra J Shetty, whose contribution to the overall impact of the work was enormous. THE ONE OF THE MOST SUBTLE AND BRILLIANT DIRECTION I EVER SAW !Lootera uses silence and stillness wonderfully well.... through his direction !!
- DirectorBejoy NambiarStarsVikramNeil Nitin MukeshVinay VirmaniThe lives of three different men named David are about to change forever.Camera work is fantastic. The whole movie is a visual treat, thanks to these creative guys. Bejoy Nambiar chooses a different and stylish pattern to narrate his tale!! In his films....there is always given the upmost important to VISUALS !! Bejoy Nambiar always try to give NEW shots !! He is like an inventor of some new shots!!
