- Tourists arrive in the quiet Canadian lake resort Falcon Beach for the season, including nostalgic Ginny Bradshaw and her bitchy daughter Paige, who actually reports to the -fortunately unimpressed- police a 'break-in' by two charming local youngsters, cool water-jock Jason Tanner and his gentle mate Danny Ellis, who only came to borrow electricity for the traditional Start of Summer beach party, which she later gets broken up as 'noise', then followed up by mayor Tallis, who fears 'trouble like last year'. Danny bails out of the tower climbing rite of passage again, he rather skinny-dives. Paige is pissed-off having to stay 'in the wilderness' instead of cramming for an imminent internship at dad Trevor's New York firm, but he doesn't send the info package he promised because of some reorganization; even her big brother in college Lane, who visits later, doesn't know the details. When Jason sees his ex, model Tanya Shedden, finally home from Paris, wants to leave already after a row with her ma Darlene -who just warns not to waste that career and can't pay for college- he generously offers she can stay on the boat he's repairing and temporarily moves back with his own ma Peggy Tanner. Spoiled-rotten ingrate Tanya invites Paige's brother Lane, a fellow party-animal. Bored now her apprenticeship is on hold, Paige commandeers Jason to teach her wake-boarding, then even steals a kiss from the irresistible hunk; yet on land she maintains her haughty aloof act. Tanya takes Lane to her XTC dealer Mook, who strips the boy's studly chest before accepting his $1,000 for 'personal party supplies' of the psychedelic kind. Mayor Tallis's naive son Georgie (14) bought some XTC from the duo -Tanya lied and bitched about it when Jason protested- and got so high he climbs the water-tower, but is afraid to come down; just before brave athletic Jason has reached him, the boy makes a terrible fall. - Danny can't spend much time enjoying Erin's hip-hop class on the beach -he stinks at it, hopping all but hip, yet craves her, even more 'private lesson'-, most of his time is spent trying to save dad's arcade from imminent bankruptcy. Paige didn't even consult Danny before spending $3,000 from his posters sale -bad enough to service urgent debt- on an espresso machine, pricing the product deliberately c25 under the nearest competitor, who can't match because of overhead. Even more daunting is her next project: rent the cleaned-out storage room for $600, when that won't sell upping the price, still aiming at the only interested party, the interesting young, local medical resident, Dr. Adrian Keeper. Lane grudgingly moves in with ma Ginny and sister Paige after being expelled from college being caught with drugs, and is furious ma just assumes he's dealing and 'can count himself lucky' if the police leaves him alone; actually the PD plots with Georgie's vindictive dad the mayor to make Lane believe he needs a deal so they can get at Mook. Jason is miserable now Paige and Tanya are too close to ignore, but neither treats him like a generous friend and lover deserves, actually abusing his handy help -Paige even plainly when he offers to help at Danny's renovating.
- The Bradshaw girls learn the company's board has lost trust in founder dad Trevor, who is no longer in a position to give Paige a New York apprenticeship. Jason has a hard time bringing himself to work in the Tanner marina, and tells Ginny, who admired his late dad Bob 15 years ago, he drowned in a storm. Danny learns his dad Ray Ellis's arcade is in deep debt, owing $10,000 to the company's HQ fast; he's desperate enough to ask financial advice from bored Paige, who commandeers his presence -'sorry', Erin- to assist her stat in elaborating a business plan on her notebook. To his horror she even insists to value his beloved old posters, which prove collectors items fetching over the target sum. Agent Gordon turns up to remind deserted model Tanya Shedden she spend more then she earned, so he demands she works off some debt by accepting a 3 months promotion contract. Even Mook demands his clients to abstain from dealing themselves and Lane to stay away after the Georgie incident; at least the mayor's boy is recovering in hospital. Jason proves a loyal and supportive friend for everyone, even though the damned girls never even say what they want, as Danny concurs.
- Now Jason is finally back on kissing and memory lane terms with Tanya, sleeping on the beach, his ma complains about her 'intrusion' and Danny about doing all his marina chores, being grumpy as Erin refuses to 'risk their friendship', yet ends up kissing. Seeing them together is the first uppercut today for Paige, who next is told Danny and his dad sold the espresso machine to spare their neighbors the competition. Her dad Trevor is back, but only to hold a 'family photo-shoot' to look good for the shareholders who appreciate family values; ma Ginny objects to the family allegedly being subordinate to business. When pa learns Lane is on community service for drug charges, the golden boy is no longer quite welcome. Lane refuses a police deal, offers Mook a new student market for a share after eliminating the only witness, still gets a solid beating, but Mook returns... Paige even overhears ma suspecting his assistant Sara of sleeping with dad. Jason saves the day when Trevor proves his incompetence posing as yacht-captain, and is told he should try wake-boarding for the fat prize money- he considers contending the regional championship.
- Ginny talks to former Summer friend Alan Murphy, who bought the bookshop. While training for the wake-boarding tournament Wake Jam, Jason meets two-fold champion Trent Carvallo and his trainer Kyle Mackenzie, but Jason's own program falls trough when pushing the pace makes his boat break down beyond his repair skills. After he finds Tanya high again, she promises to stop using. Lane overhears dad Trevor made ma Ginny sign a dodgy declaration, finds for sure there is no witness against him and makes his first flight in dad's private jet as Mook's drug courier. Erin's loose manner at a TV dance party disappoints Danny, whose dance hall restoration project with Paige was rejected on a technicality by the vindictive mayor, who still wants to nail Lane.
- The mayor ignores Danny and Paige's popular-proven plan for a restored dance hall, meanwhile Ginny helps her old friend the bookshop-keeper organize the annual solstice party on the beach. When resident Dr. Adrian accepts to take wake-boarding lessons with Paige, she rents for the whole summer an ideal speedboat for Jason and offers him free use of it to train for the championship in exchange for free use of his marina, he hesitates out of pride; Paige tells married Adrian not to play the jealous lover. Lane hints he knows about dad Trevor's tricking ma when paternally rebuked for using the company jet for free, in fact to make Mook's first weed shipping, for which he doesn't even get the expected 10%; Lane's community service mate Hurst shows him his secret weed nursery trailer, they agree to market it 50-50. Using her fax when his is broken brings Trevor closer to Darlene. The girls find their Party Girls TV rep attracts new boys but bothers their local lovers; his dad tells idealist Danny to forgive dumber Erin, which earns him a passionate kiss. The solstice night brings many couples (back) together.
- The Bradshaws get a surprise visit from Ginny's sister Patricia and her kids, young Mitchell and Goth Zoe. Even mayor Tallis is eager to see shy Jason win the wake-boarding tournament 'for Falcon Beach'. Danny enjoys Erin's frolicking, yet feels it's going too fast now; she didn't expect him to fall in true love and fears he'll still dump her later. Grumpy barman Tom clearly disapproves of Tanya's abuse of -unpaid- alcohol, so she lies he committed sexual harassment to her 'too' when a rumor is taken serious by their boss who fires him; Jason knows her better, she even flirts with Lane but bitches at Jason sensing his mistrust. Zoe faints because of an infected navel-piercing, and steals from Dr. Adrian Keeper's medicine cabinet; he discretely warns Paige: that stuff can get her in a coma. Patricia wants the Bradshaws' lake cottage put on the market, not just sell her half to Ginny, as she made their ma stipulate in her will. Paige confronts dad Trevor, who confesses his infidelity with his assistant. Jason qualifies for the final despite nerves against twofold title-holder Travis Rudnicki, who looses to the 'newbie' with a painful fall in both sense of the adjective.
- Despite another loan payment delay, Jason and Peggy's marina debt looks desperate. Then they get a visit from his cool uncle Steve, a fellow aquatic sports amateur just back from Singapore, but ma harbors a now open grudge; pressed by his impatient contact Minang, Steve demands Peg pays him immediately $43,000 arrears in Bobby's inheritance- that would mean selling the marina, which she refuses to consider even now Jason no longer cares and tells he knows about his late dad's affair with Darlena; the financial facts force her hand. Danny is worried as Erin not only stays cooped up but is considering to move back to the West Coast. The band Dead Jet cancels for the dance hall's reopening in two days, sick singer, so Danny's kid brother Tyler's band may get their chance to open, behind ignorant-kept Paige's back, while he tries desperately to sign her idol, Mat Mays... Lane convinces ingrate airhead Tanya to contact her European modeling agent Gordon again, but he's no longer interested; Jason refuses to be blamed absurdly by his bitchy ex. Darlene sneers at Steve, knowing he's in drugs, but won't tell. Jason accepts a sponsoring contract with Kyle's authority to buy out Steve, who refuses to wait, so he decks uncle as provoked and begs Paige for a loan; before she answers, Darlena threatens to divulge Steve's part in his brother Bobby's fatal accident, which works.
- After the 14 year-old boy's drowning in the lake, the police investigates. Head lifeguard Rory Elcock suggests Erin may have exhausted herself as reputed Party Girl, and asks Jason to replace her as qualified, although inexperienced life guard, or the beach could close down. Guilt-consumed Erin desperately needs dear Danny's sweet, strong shoulder to cry on, he even testifies to make her sound good and concentrated. After an interview from Social Services, Paige dares blame Dr. Adrian Keeper for reporting Zoe's pill theft (as legally and ethically required) 'because he could't save the boy', but it's ma Patsy's own admission to deny her children contact with their gay father that costs her custody. Lane and Hurst continue their drug business. Jason discovers there was nobody rostered to relieve Rory and Erin all day and suspects Rory wasn't in his duty chair during the accident... Ginny tells supportive Lane and shocked Paige she decided to file for divorce from their pa Trevor. Jason finds out Tanya publicly took Lane for a ride in his bike and dumps her; she viciously suggests he's mentally unfaithful like his late dad Bob with her ma Darlene, news he hesitates to have his ma confirm...
- Kyle warns Jason he's better off without a lush like Tanya. Paige brings badly beaten-up Lane to Dr. Adrian Keeper, who patches him up and calls the police, but dealer David 'Mook' Stafford blackmails officer Koch to betray Lane's position and later to strand him, so all his efforts to keep $10,000 behind to flea to London with Tanya are in vain. Paige, who told Jason she broke up with Adrian, enlists Jason's help first to bring Lane to Erin's, later to bring the $30,000 from Lane's locker to Mook, who got Lane again after Jason forced him to talk to the police, alas ignoring Koch's double part. In the end Mook and Lane get a legal surprise... Meanwhile Trevor, who was sacked as CEO, arrive back home, hoping a trip down memory lane could rekindle his marriage, but Ginny just won't reconsider calling off the divorce.
- Sponsor Wave Crasher sends Jason PR manager Alex(andra) Townsend to meet him and make a promotion video with Kyle. After Dr. Adrian told startled Erin she's pregnant, daddy-to-be Danny is supportive but given no vote, she feels too Catholic for an adoption, too young for motherhood; pa Ray Ellis consoles Danny when she plans to give their child up for adoption, but is dead-set against becoming her Vancouver room-mate till the birth, yet they decide to start a family. Lane is interrogated by the police, the $30,000 drug money held as evidence, ma refuses to keep bailing him out. Waitress Tanya is fired as junkie, leaving the pair without any income, but Lane hopes to get to Europe on his share of the weed plant- Hurst gives it but warns Mook has murdered before: Jason's pa. Paige refuses to join Jason on the speedboat, rather drinks with Adrian, finds pa Trevor drunk and desperate in his hotel; ma Ginny is inflexible, kisses Alan Murphy. After a secret night with Darlena, Trevor bounces back, but calls Ginny unfaithful. Paige invites herself with Alex, Kyle, cameraman Mike and Jason on the boat for his promotion video. Tanya steals and sells the weed, crashes with head-wound during arrest for crazy driving, yet Lane still stands by the junk. Alex wines, dines and seduces Jason in vain, even 'postpones' his salary fixing; Paige is finally ready to make love on the beach.
- Jason already hired a contractor to build another marina dock and started training Danny's kid brother Phil -an expensively slow learner- to replace him before Wave Crusher has conceded his sponsorship, and despite his 10% coach Kyle proves a demanding bastard, who pushes Jason so hard to qualify for the championships that he waves Adrian's warning to rest with a knee injury and insists on a short-term cortisone shot. Paige's joy over Harvard admission is tainted by the idea of leaving Adrian, whose 'separated' wife Maria turns up clearly unwilling to get divorced, and again by the news dad's assistant-lover Sarah leaked documents causing the board to fire Trevor, and the Bradshaw stock to be suspended. Officer Koch tells Mook, actually the mayor's relative David Stafford, that Hurst bought a fancy new car, so Mook soon discovers he and Lane have their own weed trade and decides to beat a least a good cut out of them, but they manage to escape Mook's biker gang during the punches.
- Now Summer ends, people prepare to leave Falcon Beach, even Danny to go with pregnant Erin. Jason insists to have the new dock finished before the new season and is happy with Paige, but as Adrian refuses to risk damaging his knee permanently by continuing the cortisone shots, the pain kills his training; reluctantly Kyle promises 'someone'. Lane is arrested for dealing to Georgie; Ginny refuses any help, dad Trevor gets him a lawyer but expects support in the divorce case, and enlists Paige to oversee his local real estates interests during her Harvard Summer break, while Patsy has sold their own cottage behind Ginny's back, she finds comfort on Alan's bed, Trevor with Darlene who allowed Tanya back on her terms, but she gets arrested running and escapes again with Lane's weed; Jason protects her when she admits having stolen it and promised the police testimony as a deal for her cocaine-bust and refuses to believe Lane his dad Bob also was a dealer, but when mother confirms he was 'in trouble' pulls the plug on the championship to Kyle's disgust. Trevor tells Ginny he bought the cabin and gives her 24 hours to leave, but this makes Paige take her side, so he turns to Lane.
