- A documentary of black art.
- This is NOT a documentary. It's much more. A very interesting mixture of filmed scenes with J-P Belmondo and archival footage regarding cultural aspects of all kind around Paris, starting at the end of the 19th century and ending in the mid-1960's. Jean-Paul Belmondo leads us through the movie starting as a young photographer around 1900, a reporter in both world-wars and doing fictional interviews with lots of celebrities. The film ends showing Belmondo as an old man around 90 years saying goodbye to his beloved Paris. A quiet but superb role for J-P B who can be seen in dozens of outfits and in different ages.
- Concerns a scientist's flight into outer space.
- Reine-Claude (in English: Greengage), a poor quality dancer, is above all an unrepentant dreamer. To spice up everyday life she creates an imaginary double of herself she calls La Prunelle (in English: Sloe),a fearless heroine who embarks on a series of adventures, each wilder than the other. Fortunately, her niece Rosette (in English: Small Rose), a ballet dancer, manages - most of the time! - to moderate her erratic behavior...
- An engine moves from the roundhouse to a track where it couples with several passenger cars. At 2:10 in the afternoon, it starts a trip out of the station through the countryside to its destination. The film consists of a montage of shots, some close up, of the engine and its gears and wheels. With the accompanying ambient sounds and an orchestral score, the emphasis is on the engine's power and speed. Parallel lines of multiple tracks, telephone wires, and trees confirm a careful composition.
- For centuries, people have lived poorly but nobly in the Algerian desert. But one day, the French found oil where they lived and their lives were upset. For better (new jobs, more money, new lodgings, education) and worse (a traditional style of living threatened by modernity).
