Doctor Who - Series 2 - David Tennant
My thoughts and ratings on Series 2 of Doctor Who.
Oof. I used to like this season a lot more as a kid. The finale was a big punch in the gut, because the Doctor's and Rose's relationship had reached an end, but... I don't care anymore. This relationship is very strange and made for a lot of genuinely cringey moments.
David Tennant is also weaker in this season compared the future seasons. I don't know what happened, but it takes a whole season for him to get solidified in the role for me.
This season is also extremely inconsistent. It literally has my favorite episode (The Girl in the Fireplace) and my least favorite episode (Fear Her) in the entire show. Some episodes have some amazing moments. Others have the most baffling creative decisions.
I don't hate Series 2, but it's definitely not something I'll be returning to as a whole again. - 6/10

- DirectorJames HawesStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperCamille CoduriIt's Christmas Eve, but this is to be a far from silent night - the cruel Sycorax have come to Earth to enslave mankind and, as ever, only The Doctor can stop them. Unfortunately, he's lying in a coma in Jackie's home...While there are definitely things I like about this episode, I can't say it's anything better than "okay". For an introduction to David Tennant's doctor, it sucks that half of the episode is just him in BED. The episode does pick up in its second half. I enjoy his big monologue and the ending with Harriet Jones is pretty amusing. Fine episode, just wish that first half wasn't as boring as it is. - 6/10
- DirectorJames HawesStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperCamille CoduriThe Doctor and Rose arrive on New Earth and meet old friends and enemies in a hospital which can cure every disease. But the cures come at a terrible cost.I honestly don't care. It's neat that they go to New Earth, but they really do nothing interesting with it. The Face of Boe bits are cool, but that's only a small portion of the episode. The rest of it is just dedicated to dumb ass Casandra. She's awful. Everything that they do with her is bad. The body switching is insanely stupid. The magical vaccine makes no sense. Dumb episode. - 4/10
- DirectorEuros LynStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperPauline CollinsThe Doctor and Rose are transported to 19th Century Scotland, where they meet Queen Victoria, and try to protect her from a ravenous werewolf and a band of assassinating warrior-monksI remember being bored by this episode as a kid, but now, I kinda like it. It's still nothing amazing, but there's some pretty 'amusing' bits in it. The werewolf stuff is epic. Queen Victoria is a fun character. Definitely one of the better early historical episodes.
- DirectorJames HawesStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperNoel ClarkeThe Krillitanes - aliens with a mix-and-match physiology - are trying to crack the 'God-Maker', a paradigm to give them ultimate power. They are using children as a computer, and only the Doctor and Rose, re-united with Sarah Jane Smith and K9 can prevent them from becoming masters of time and space. There's a lot to like in this episode. The monster of the week is really not good, but the rest of the episode is fantastic. Sarah Jane Smith is a cool addition, especially for old fans of the show. There's a lot of fun banter in this one too. Great episode. - 8/10
- DirectorEuros LynStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperNoel ClarkeThe Doctor, Mickey and Rose land on a spaceship in the 51st century only to find 18th century Versailles on board, the time of Madame De Pompadour! To find out what's going on the Doctor must enter Versailles and save Madame De Popmpadour but it turns into an emotional roller coaster for the Doctor.I still love everything about this episode. - 10/10
- DirectorGraeme HarperStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperCamille CoduriThe TARDIS crash lands in London on a parallel world, where Rose's dad is still alive, people are disappearing off the streets and one of the Doctor's deadliest enemies is about to be reborn.Hold on a damn minute. How tf they got AIRPODS in 2006???? - 6/10
- DirectorGraeme HarperStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperCamille CoduriThe Cybermen take control of London as the population is enslaved and the Doctor and his friends become fugitives. Why is it so weird for Doctor Who to do Parallel Earths? I don't quite understand it, but this two-parter is just strange. I don't care about the Cybermen at all. They never feel like a real threat. Once again, while there's some things I like (Mainly the stuff with Mickey. He's goated.), there's equally stuff that I just didn't care for. Why is Doctor Who so inconsistent early on? Weird. - 6/10
- DirectorEuros LynStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperMaureen LipmanAs the coronation of Elizabeth II nears, the streets of London live in fear. Faceless people are stolen from their homes in the night and something evil is lurking in the television.Dumb villain. Dumb plot. Based characters tho. - 5/10
- DirectorJames StrongStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperDanny WebbWhen the Doctor and Rose become stranded on a planet orbiting a black hole, they find a human expedition crew and their servants, the Ood, being terrorised by the Devil. This is the first two-parter of the show that I actually care about. The Doctor and Rose are actually in danger. There's a crew of characters that are interesting. The threat is super mysterious. As a whole, this episode is a great buildup to Part Two. - 8/10
- DirectorJames StrongStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperDanny WebbThe Doctor risks his life to investigate the pit and is forced to make a terrible decision, while Rose and the crew fend for their lives against the Legion of the Beast.Solid two-parter with a lot of interesting stuff going for it. Lots of great dialogue. The monster at the end is built up perfectly. Great episode. - 8/10
- DirectorDan ZeffStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperCamille CoduriElton Pope is an ordinary man intrigued by the world of the Doctor. When he and fellow enthusiasts - L.I.N.D.A. - meet the mysterious Victor Kennedy, their lives will never be the same again.BRO THE ABSORBALOFF IS SO EPIC!!! - 10/10
- DirectorEuros LynStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperNina SosanyaWhen children vanish into thin air in 2012 London, the Doctor and Rose find the answers in a seemingly ordinary household and a girl whose drawings can come to life. This shit trash. - 2/10
- DirectorGraeme HarperStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperCamille CoduriWhen ghosts of loved ones appear all over the world the Doctor traces the phenomena to the Torchwood Tower, where some old friends and enemies are waiting. While easily better than the last couple episodes, it's still mostly just okay. I like the inclusion of Torchwood and the ending is pretty dope, but boy am I glad to be almost done with the season. - 7/10
- DirectorGraeme HarperStarsDavid TennantBillie PiperCamille CoduriEarth becomes a battleground for the Daleks and the Cybermen. With the whole planet at stake and the Genesis Ark activated, how much will the Doctor sacrifice in order to end the war?The best part of this finale is when Jackie and Alternate Universe Pete have this really heartfelt scene, only for it to immediately change to the Daleks and the Cybermen fighting. I laughed really hard. Other than that, it's a solid finale. The ending used to be a tearjerker when I was younger, but now I'm not really a big fan of Rose, so it was just okay. - 8/10
